Field Work
Field Work is a personal project I’ve been nurturing alongside my commissioned work, a space for creative freedom, slow experimentation, and reflection. Rooted in my studies in conservation and sustainability education, this project explores how creating art work can deepen our connection with nature and offer a mindful response to environmental issues. It’s a space where I step away from outcomes and commercial pressures, allowing curiosity and creative play to lead the way.
Using a mix of traditional craft techniques and experimental methods- printmaking, illustration, painting, textiles, and found-object sculpture – incorporating the use of recycled, reclaimed, and natural materials, alongside traditional art materials to embrace play within the process to embrace the unexpected. Through field observations, drawing, photography, and collecting discarded objects, I’m interested in how creativity, sustainability, and personal expression intersect.
This project gives me space to reflect on how creativity can deepen our connection to nature and invite conversations around sustainability. Looking ahead, I hope to expand into sound recording and multi-sensory work, with the long-term aim of developing immersive experiences that inspire curiosity and care for the natural world. While Field Work is currently a self-directed exploration, I’m seeking opportunities for funding and support to grow the project further and share it more widely.
